Data Access

Use this page to keep track of datasets supporting the Indigenous Approaches to Co-Management sprint. Update links and notes as you finalize sources.

Spatial layers

  • PAD-US 3.0 — Download from the USGS GAP portal. Store extracts that you clean in code/data/ and sync authoritative copies to i:/iplant/home/shared/esiil/Innovation_summit/Group_16/shared_data/pad-us/.
  • NOAA Fisheries management regions — Boundary shapefiles and metadata from the NOAA Fisheries website. Document projection changes in your processing notebook.
  • Indigenous territories (Native Land Digital) — Use the API or download shapefiles. Confirm permissions before sharing beyond the team.

Qualitative and policy sources

  • Co-management agreement texts — Collect PDF/HTML versions from agency and Nation websites. Log citation details in documentation/group-notes.md.
  • Media narratives — Export article metadata from LexisNexis or GDELT. Store CSV exports under shared_data/media/ in the CyVerse folder.
  • Guardian program reports — Reach out to community partners for approved summaries. Note usage constraints alongside the files.

Access instructions

  • Mount the CyVerse community folder via GoCommands: i:/iplant/home/shared/esiil/Innovation_summit/Group_16.
  • Mirror large geospatial layers locally under ./data/ and commit processing notebooks—not the raw downloads.
  • Reference this page from the homepage Data & access button so collaborators can self-serve the latest files.

Add, remove, or reorganize sections as the project evolves.
