Participation Guidelines

We are a highly collaborative group of environmental scientists, educators, and data scientists who strive for inclusivity. We're so excited that you're potentially interested in working with us or our materials! Please see the heading below that best fits your interest.

If you have follow-up questions, please feel free to reach out to one of the principal investigators (PIs) via email and we're happy to try to answer those questions!

I'd Like to Use the Materials

Great! The workshop materials are meant to be used by a wide audience! Please cite us when you use them but otherwise, feel free to teach the parts of the workshop that best fit your audience.

The materials are under an [license TBD] so please cite/use them in accordance with what that license allows.

I'd Like to Suggest Edits to the Materials

Keeping any kind of teaching materials up-to-date takes a lot of effort, and that's arguably even more true for a fast-moving subject like generative AI! If you have changes you'd like to suggest, please open a GitHub issue on the workshop repository.

If you're not comfortable contributing that way, or feel that your suggestions are better-suited for a back-and-forth dialogue, please reach out to one of the PIs

I'd like to Join the Group

If you'd like to join the group, that's awesome! We are definitely interested in growing our team by adding collaboration-minded people who are passionate about education and/or generative AI. That said, we recognize that one of the most important facets of group work like this is a shared set of commitments and values (Elmendorf et al. 2026).

If you are interested in joining our team, please read our core group norms documents and ask yourself whether you'd be willing to abide by them for the purposes of working with this team. Those documents include our:

If you've reviewed all of those documents and are willing to abide by them, please reach out to one of the PIs to introduce yourself and get the conversation started about potentially joining the group.
